Nelson W. Lash

U.S. Veteran

Lash, Nelson W., Freeland, Michigan. Beloved husband, father and grandfather and step-grandfather passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence. Age 72 years. Son of the late Robert and Hazel (Holmes) Lash, Nelson was born March 9, 1940 in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army. He was married to Helen Bremer on May 4, 1963. She predeceased him November 4, 1994. He then married Ann Boelter on November 1, 1997. She survives him. Nelson was employed at G.M. Metal Casting Powertrain CDVC for 42 years retiring in 2006. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #82 and chairman of the community service for 12 years. He was a member of U.T.C., G.M. Retirees and involved in the winter Special Olympics. Nelson enjoyed camping, Traveling, Saginaw Spirit Games, NASCAR Racing, ringing the bell for the Salvation Army , meeting the guys for breakfast and especially his family. Surviving besides his wife Ann are two sons, Michael (Natalie) Lash and Bill (Paula) Lash; one step daughter, Julie (Howard) Deal; one step son, Brian (Kim) Boelter; five grandchildren and four step-grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie Lash; a brother, Robert Lash; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Pat (David) LaPan, Clare Bremer, Catherine Zimmer, Evelyn (David) Jones, Art (Cheryl) Bremer, Jim Bremer, Richard (Jean) Tafel, Charles (Liz) Tafel, Gary Tafel and his friend Carol; many nieces and nephews. Nelson was preceded in death by a Marian Lingle and Tom Bremer. A special thanks to all the doctors, nurses, aids and MMR who attended to Nelson’s care. Funeral Service will take place 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 545 S. 7th, Freeland, Michigan. Pastor Rob Schmidt will officiate with burial in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd. (between Shattuck and McCarty) where the family will be present on Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Messiah Lutheran Church or the Cartwright Hospice Residence.
