He served as a mediator for the Gates McDonald Corporation until 1988, when he helped form and became a principal of Professional Technologies Services, an engineering consulting firm, which he and his partners participated in for over 18 years. John enjoyed traveling, his great family times up north and winters in Florida. He served as past President of the Saginaw Y.M.C.A.’s Men’s Club, belonged to its Industrial Executives Club and was a life member of Salina-Pioneer Lodge #79, F. & A.M. He helped organize and became a charter member of the Saginaw G.M. Salaried Retirees Club. During the past 20 years, John also volunteered in a group assisting struggling family members dealing with substance abuse problems. Surviving besides his wife Marilynn are four sons and one daughter, Brian J. Gorman, Swartz Creek; Michael J. (Jane) Gorman, Fort Wayne, Indiana; Kathleen J. (Joe) Morris, Bridgeport; David P. Breeman, Belmont; Daniel G. (Natalie) Breeman, Lake Zurich, Illinois; six grandchildren, Andrew and Brittany Gorman, Swartz Creek; Jacob and Nathan Breeman, Lake Zurich, Illinois; Ashley Breeman, Belmont; Joe Morris, Bridgeport; a great-grandson, Ellijah Blair; a sister, Betty Jo VanSchoick, Jackson; three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Joanne McGuire, Saginaw; Judie McGuire, Houghton Lake; Sandy and James McGuire, Saginaw; several nieces and nephews. Honoring Mr. Gorman’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 17, 2012 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty). Rev. James Neumann will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
