Stanley F. Tomaszewski

U.S. Veteran

Beloved father and grandfather passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012. Age 91 years. The son of the late Anthony and Antoinette (Pasierb) Tomaszewski, Stanley was born August 31, 1920 in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II where he was awarded four Bronze Stars. Stanley married Germayne Gorzenski on February 18, 1950. She predeceased him September 3, 2002. He was employed at Saginaw Steering Gear for 33 years until his retirement in 1974. Stanley was a member of St. Josaphat Catholic Church, U.A.W. Local #699 and V.F.W. Post #1859. Stanley was an avid walker at the Saginaw Mall and encountered many friends there. He was nicknamed “THE CANDY MAN” by his mall friends. Surviving are four daughters, four sons and their spouses, Cathy and Frank Shirai, Pendleton, Indiana; Debra Weiss, Bay City; Paul and Kim Tomaszewski, Grand Rapids; Diane and Robert Hungerford, Kalamazoo; David Tomaszewski, Saginaw; Judith and Randy Schram, Saginaw; John Tomaszewski, Dundee, Jeffrey Tomaszewski, Ypsilanti; nine grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Stanley was preceded in death by a son, Anthony A. Tomaszewski, a daughter Elizabeth Tomaszewski and by three sisters and three brothers, Josephine, Helen, Bernice, Joseph, Frank and Edward Tomaszewski. Funeral Liturgy will take place 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 2, 2012 at St. Josaphat Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Ronald Dombrowski will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery where military honors will be presented by V.F.W. Post #1859. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Sunday from 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m. and at St. Josaphat Catholic Church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. There will be a Vigil Service 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Josaphat Catholic Church.
